Get to know your microbiome

The microbiome — the unknown part of your health

Trillions of microbes in your gut take part in digestion, in making vitamins and in the connection with the brain. The test shows which ones you have and what they can do — and how to feed them.

What we test

The microbiome isn't in one place. Microorganisms live on your skin, in your mouth, in your gut, across your mucous membranes — practically everywhere on you. Each of these environments is a separate ecosystem with its own composition and its own rules.

The BugSpeaks platform covers exactly these four areas because this is where the science has come furthest: the links between specific microbes and specific conditions are best described and most actionable here. In Bulgaria we offer the gut, skin and vaginal tests; the oral test is coming soon.

Toma Tanev

„I slept badly. I never connected it with my plate."

I took the test for digestion — I had written off my sleep. The plan emphasised foods for the gut–brain axis, which sounded like marketing to me. By the second month I was waking up less at night. I am not claiming it was only this, but I changed nothing else.

Stoyan Grigorov

„I bloated every evening and had got used to it."

I had tried plenty at random — gluten-free once, dairy-free another time, always something. The report showed that the bacteria which break down fibre were exactly what I lacked, and the plan started there. For the first three or four weeks I felt nothing. Then the bloating eased enough that I stopped keeping track of it.

Aleksandar Zhelyazov

„I switched off in the afternoons and blamed my age."

Honestly, I did not expect much. The plan was a nuisance at first — I had to buy things I never used. Somewhere in the second month I noticed I no longer reached for coffee at four in the afternoon. I am not a different person, but the day ends more easily.

Maria Todorova

„I tried creams for years without thinking about my gut."

My skin flared up for no clear reason. The report linked it to the state of my gut, so the plan started there rather than with my face. Not everything went away, but the redness calmed down enough that I stopped reaching for concealer every morning.

Kemal Kemal

„I did not go on a diet. I just saw what I was feeding."

I was putting on two or three kilos a year, and every restriction lasted me about a month. The test showed I had been feeding the bacteria that like processed food. The plan did not forbid anything, it rearranged. In five months I lost six kilos — slowly, but for the first time without counting calories.

Report

One test. Concrete answers

Your microbiome report is 48 pages of detailed microbiome analysis. Here are the 9 key indicators — click on each one to see what it covers.

The BugSpeaks microbiome report — summary results and contents on screen
  • Rych Index™

Leucine Rich Bio's own index for the overall "soundness" of your microbiome, which assesses the diversity, the metabolite production potential, the balance between beneficial and opportunistic microbes and other characteristics of your microbiome. A single score from 0 to 100, color-coded — easy to read and easy to compare.

    • Assesses diversity, metabolic potential and the balance between beneficial and opportunistic microbes
    • Color scale: red (low) → green (optimal)
    • Comparison against optimal levels
  • Vitamins and metabolites

We analyze your microbiome's potential to produce B and C vitamins, short-chain fatty acids and neurotransmitters that research links to the gut–brain axis — including serotonin, dopamine and GABA.

    • 9 vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, C
    • Short-chain fatty acids: butyrate, propionate, acetate
    • 10 neurotransmitters for the gut-brain axis
  • Food breakdown

We assess your microbes' potential to break down lactose, fructose, gluten and histamine — and the plan uses it to choose your foods. It is not an intolerance or allergy test.

    • Lactose, gluten, fructose
    • Histamine breakdown
    • Color-coded recommendations
  • Bacterial profile

A detailed list of the probiotic species in your gut — which are well represented and which are under-represented. The report also shows the share of opportunistic microbes, which in healthy people are usually present in small amounts — information about the balance of your microbiome, not a test for infection.

    • Probiotic species that are under-represented in you
    • Opportunistic microbes — compared with the reference group
    • Personalized recommendations
  • Endurance potential

The report assesses how much potential your microbes have to support physical activity — aerobic and physical endurance, each against the optimal range. Especially interesting if you train regularly.

    • Aerobic endurance
    • Physical endurance
    • Color scale: orange (low) → green (optimal)
  • Metabolic potential

The report assesses your microbes' potential to take part in breaking down carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

    • Carbohydrates, fats, proteins
  • Gut function

We assess your microbiome's potential linked to gut motility and its potential to influence the absorption of calcium, iron and magnesium — we do not measure how much your body absorbs.

    • Calcium, iron, magnesium
    • Gut motility
    • Potential of the microbes — not measured absorption
  • Antibiotic resistance genes

The report shows which known resistance genes your gut bacteria carry — general information about your microbiome. It does not show whether a given treatment will work, it is not an antibiogram and it is not for choosing an antibiotic.

    • A check for resistance genes across 90 antibiotics
    • General information about your microbiome — not an antibiogram
  • Similarity to 8 conditions

The report compares your microbes with the microbial profiles seen in people with eight common conditions and shows, as a percentage, how closely they match. You see which profiles your microbiome is closest to and what to keep an eye on. This is information about your microbes, not a diagnosis, and it does not predict whether you will develop any of these conditions.

    • Type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
    • Constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis
    • Similarity as a percentage — not a diagnosis

Nutrition plan

From DNA to your plate.

The report doesn't end with the numbers. The gut test comes with a 12-week nutrition plan calculated from your microbes — an approach clinically tested in a pilot study by Leucine Rich Bio with 30 participants (PeerJ, 2024), funded by the company.

Nutrition plan

Data without a plan is just numbers

Every gut report comes with a personalised 12-week nutrition programme built on your unique microbiome profile — an approach clinically tested in a pilot study by Leucine Rich Bio with 30 participants (PeerJ, 2024), funded by the company. Three phases and about 250 foods in 11 groups, each with how often to eat it.
